Down in the Valley

This is some of the film from my trip to Tennessee. We drove through Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and finally landed ourselves in Manchester TN for Bonnaroo. It was shockingly hot and dusty, which certainly didn't make for much choice outfit wise (and the clothes that I did end up wearing need a thorough cleaning post Manchester). Despite the blaring heat and minimal shade at the festival, the music was definitely worth the battle we put our bodies through. On the last day I got to see The Head and the Heart (which I must admit I teared up after one note during Rivers and Roads), Aunt Martha, John Waters and Beirut, which certainly made for a wonderfully packed day. Other highlights for me included Wanda Jackson (she was so adorable and told a story about dating Elvis) and of course, Mumford and Sons.

With my trip to Tennessee under a week away I've begun making imaginary outfits that will (hopefully) somehow translate into the real world using items from my own wardrobe. But if some generous soul would like to lend me the following pieces that would be nice, too.

Huckleberry Pie

 

If I've been distant to the blog world since last week, the scrumptious pup above is the reason why. I adopted him on Saturday, and since then haven't had much time for anything between walks, playtime and (mild) training. His name is Huckleberry, and  he is such a peach. Lately we've taken to eating breakfast in the backyard, and yesterday I did some hemming afterwards, including the shorts worn below. Hopefully I'll get the hang of this  blogging and having a puppy thing soon xxx

crochet and bow

A  lovely day at the Worn office, where we ate cupcakes and took these lovely photos outside (along with some actual work, too!).  Look for them on the Worn blog soon, in a new type of  post that we aptly titled  What I Wore to Worn. I was too excited to have my new crochet cardigan from value, and bow shoes (scroll down) from the lovely Kennedy photographed for this, yay!

I love you like a mountain

These are some photos I took this weekend at a railroad track behind my house. It was so lovely out (finally) that my shoulders got reddened in the sun. The rest of the weekend I spent watching Boardwalk Empire, eating Easter treats, and letting ghosts walk in and out of my room.

It was real, and I repent

Classes are over, and after one meeting with my professor, and an exam tomorrow I will be done school (unless I fled to grad school in the next year). Anyway, the only thing really exciting about this outfit is the fact that I am wearing  pants, which is a rare, rare occurance. I like these though, and after a few alterations they will be just perfect. It really does feel like I'm saving all my outfit energy for when warmer weather comes though, which sometimes makes it annoying to get dressed in the morning. I wish I could hibernate the next few weeks away like a bear until the flowers bloom. I'm getting a dog in the upcoming weeks, and have come up with this list of names for her, any suggestions or comments are welcome x.x.x

the days we spent anchored

I think I have been wearing these vintage Levi shorts for days. I've had them forever, but it seems I become obsessed with them each time the seasons change from winter to spring, I guess the prospect of wearing them again without tights and frolicking in the park excites me. My blouse is something I picked up at Common Sort, along with a few other treasures I will show off some other time. On an interesting side note, I did at one point already own this blouse from American Apparel, it was given to me by a friend that moved to California. I never wore it, so when my friend Lindsay asked to have it I said sure. After seeing her wear it a few times and look super cute, I wanted it back. So when I saw it at Common Sort for so cheap I decided to buy it back. Have you ever given something away only to want it back weeks later?

 It's an excruciating feeling. Oh well.

I'm still fumbling around trying to figure out my new camera (Canon Rebel XTi if anyone has any fun tips to give me). I took these today post school, visit to the paper place, and putting up posters for a monthly mending show. I got a little side-tracked going into one shop to poster, and ended up buying a lovely vintage  dress. I just can't resist florals. I also can't seem to resist Philistine, the shop I bought where I bought my new dress and coincidentally the button front tunic in these photos.

You always break the kindest hearts

This Valentines has be wrought with a little confusion, glittery card making parties, aching, breakfast confessions, honesty, a man with a decision to make, and white see-through blouses. I hosted a Valentines making craft night for a Worn party, which led to silly choices, spice girls and fur dress ups. I ended up where I wanted to be, which was lovely, but complicated. The next morning (afternoon) was breakfast with my dearest friend Andrew, which is always full of laughter, gossip and love stories. Later tonight I get to wear read and sing it all out at Hearbreak Karaoke. Happy Valentines Lovelies xo

we didn't realize the forecast had been revised

I invested in a new camera (yay), but was then struck by the bitter cold and forced to stay indoors. These are some photos I took of objects around my apartment.

Music box that plays Moon River, because I once told Lindsay that if she knew a boy loved me and he asked her how to tell me it would be by playing that song outside my window.

I just liked this because it felt like I was in a tent, but really that's just my mattress behind me. I had to move it out of my bedroom for the day so a water  meter could be installed. I think I reversed it and the frame when I put it back, and my entire bed feels like it's new (refreshingly so).

 Some hairpins that I haven't used yet because I haven't found the right outfit to accompany them. suggestions?
