my heart in a silver cage

This weekend had too many unexpected and unwelcome run ins, but was salvaged (adorably so) by 6am Sunday morning. These are just some lovely treasures I picked up at an estate sale this past weekend.
I don't think I've taken the hat off yet, except maybe to sleep. I get to be in a cute photoshoot for a lovely magazine called Dandyhorse this week, and am too nervous. Wish me luck x.x.x

air

Each year, around this time I begin to crave the Virgin Suicides. I've read the novel numerous times, and will always adore it, but there is also something about the dreamy, airy quality of the film that seems to invite itself  into my life come spring. Perhaps it's the notebooks filled with scribbles, coded record phone calls, suntanning on front lawns,  homemade floor length florals, windblown hair and platform sandals that draw me in. Though I love the romantic aesthetic of the novel and film, it's a world I can only take in small doses, once a year when I feel the urge to shed my winter wools and layers.

I'm into something good

I thrifted a wicker purse a few weeks ago, and finally got around to replacing the lining. I can't wait to bring it along for adventures to the park in the spring.
Here's a song I have been listening to when I wake up each morning x.x.x

take me somewhere

Lately when I wear this trench and red lips with my hair down, I tend to feel like Lisa Mitchell's video Clean White Love (which is a pretty lovely feeling). I've been trying to do more outings with friends, and less getting stuck thinking and re-thinking about silly things like troubled boys. So, after these photos I  ran off to see Heathers with Max at the Bloor Cinema,  a place I will be visiting frequently in the future. I apologize for the repetitious backdrop and boring post, lack of time and friends that are willing to run around and take photos has got me in a little rut. Hopefully more thrilling things and better photos to come in the upcoming weeks.

I know there's no such thing as ghosts

A little calm before another busy few days (but I am not about to complain about getting to assist in two photoshoots in one week!yay!). I had been wearing the same boring thing for a few days, and though simple, it felt nice to at least be wearing something other than jean shorts and tights.

To do in the upcoming weeks:
more writing and less sitting around
send love to penpals
re-line thrifted wicker purse
spring hat shopping (I'm thinking Jena Malone in Lying)
listen to more timber timbre

(timber timbre demon host)

(new wedges that came in the post...in love)

the days we spent anchored

I think I have been wearing these vintage Levi shorts for days. I've had them forever, but it seems I become obsessed with them each time the seasons change from winter to spring, I guess the prospect of wearing them again without tights and frolicking in the park excites me. My blouse is something I picked up at Common Sort, along with a few other treasures I will show off some other time. On an interesting side note, I did at one point already own this blouse from American Apparel, it was given to me by a friend that moved to California. I never wore it, so when my friend Lindsay asked to have it I said sure. After seeing her wear it a few times and look super cute, I wanted it back. So when I saw it at Common Sort for so cheap I decided to buy it back. Have you ever given something away only to want it back weeks later?
It's an excruciating feeling. Oh well.
I also was fortunate enough to get to 'model' for their blog, which you can see here. I got to try on the loveliest dress and beret!

I turn my head up to the sky

The back of this sweater is such a treat, but I must return it to it's owner soon, so I couldn't resist taking some photos of it. This past week was a little rocky, but in the end worked out for the best. Stripes in bed, afternoon indulgences, board games, and double stripes at a farewell meeting. Hopefully this is the start of a giant shift. gahhhh light-hearted posts to come, please x.x.x
